i have a used a … i have a used a variable valve timing actuator spare. it works fine, i got a new one as it was given to me free, the old one doesn’t make any rattles. make me an offer if you want to.
i have the same … i have the same problem with my sr20 but when i put it in any gear and rev the engine it stops. does anyone have any sugestions what i should do? thanks
yeah sounds like an … yeah sounds like an oil pressure problem. the noise leaves as you raise the rpm. thus more oil is being pumped. i’d do an engine flush or check the oil pump gears if anything
no, its the nvcs … no, its the nvcs variable inlet sprocket. Im a mechanic & i’ve replaced quite a few….
Including my own on my freshly rebuilt motor. You don’t have to be a mechanic to do the job either just make sure you use a nice oil (15w-40) after replacing it. Happy driving bro!
What are you guys … What are you guys talking about, it’s not rod knock or bad bearings… It’s the VTC Sprocket which needs to be replaced! A new VTC sprocket will cost you around $500. I had the same problem on my car, after changing the bad VTC, the sound was gone. You might want to also change the VTC Solenoid its only like $140 or something. If you ditch the VTC you’ll lose the low end torque; which SUCKS!
i have the same … i have the same problem and its rocker arms… you need to chack your rocker arms and hydraulic lash adjuster.. they go bad time to time….
samething here, … samething here, change the sproket last night for one out of an s13(no vvt)….still the same noise. i dont know if lifter can be that much noisy!
exactly – VCT is … exactly – VCT is driven by oil pressure. pressure goes up when it revs and noise dissappears. this is more a tapping sound not a knocking sound
this also happens … this also happens on the nissan ve30de engines a lot and if u think thats bad be glad you dont have a 92-04 maxima vith a ve30de cause its about 5 times worse and its about $1800-$2400usd to get them replaced but you can avoid ever having it again by replacing the vtc sprocket with another exhaust sprocket. you might loose power at the top or bottom ends but you will never have the problem again
Crap…. mine makes … Crap…. mine makes the same sound. Just momentarily not all the time… I was worried but now my fears have surfaced. I need to look at my cvt.
yes I thought about … yes I thought about this too but it seems sound is coming from head area. I really have no clue. But as you said I need to find some trusted mechanic here thanks
sigh, my s15 sounds … sigh, my s15 sounds just like this atm and its me off cuz the part alone is $600AUD, tried flushing engine and changed to a diff oil but its made no difference. Wat’d it cost you 2 fix it
Could be your … Could be your bottom end bearings are shot.. not good. I’d get a trusted mechanic to look over it. I say trusted because there are a few around that will lie to take your money
when i started my … when i started my s14 my friend thought i got diesel in it lol i have the same problem but..when i start the engine it sounds just like this but when i rise rpm it wont stop it will still rattle. but as soon as i put load on engine (start moving) this sound is gone. is it vct too? thank you
ugh. my car sounds … ugh. my car sounds exactly like this too. thought it was the tensioner and/or the lifters, turns out that i really wish i saw this video before i replaced that crap. did you replace the whole sprocket assembly?
my s14 is starting … my s14 is starting to sound like this now i hear the replacement vct parts are expensive. how much it cost you to fix illusionary?
