How will the HBOS merger affect share price?

I’m aware that there is an upcoming HBOS merger, but I don’t understand how it will affect the share price? Is it likely to decrease or go up?

There will not be an HBOS share price any more. The company is being taken over by Lloyds Bank. Your HBOS shares will be taken away and you will be given Lloyds shares instead. By this time next year the Lloyds price is likely to be higher than now, but it’s not going to move much for the first few months.
